The Adoption Process
It is important to note that every situation is different, and there is no one-size-fits-all adoption plan. At Choice, this process simply begins with a conversation with one of our advocates. Your advocate will help you understand your options, answer your questions, and create a plan that reflects your wishes and needs. This can include deciding on the level of openness in your adoption, making a birth plan, and choosing an adoptive family that's a good fit for you.
At Choice Adoptions, we're here to provide holistic support as you explore what kind of adoption feels right for you and your child.

Kinds of Adoption
Open Adoption
Open adoption allows for some level of ongoing connection between birth parents, adoptive parents, and the child. This can include photos, letters, phone calls, visits, or other forms of communication agreed upon by everyone involved. Open adoptions utilize contact agreements, a formal document that both adoptive families and birth parents sign related to frequency and types of communication.
Older Child Adoption
Some parents may need to consider adoption for a child they are already parenting. Whether your child is an infant or an older child, adoption may still be an option.
If appropriate, a contract agreement will be discussed and agreed upon for all older child adoptions. Older child adoption can also be open or closed.
Closed Adoption
In a closed adoption, identifying information is not shared between the birth family and adoptive family, and there is no direct contact between them. At Choice Adoptions we prioritize open adoptions but will honor birth parents' wishes and ensure their privacy throughout the process if they do not want contact with the adoptive family or their child.
Kinship Adoption
Kinship adoption occurs when a child is adopted by a relative or someone who already has a significant relationship with them. This option can help maintain important family connections while providing long-term stability for your child. Choice offers kinship adoption through our independent services.
