How We Help
If you've recently found out you're pregnant and are considering adoption for your child, you don't have to navigate this alone. Choice provides free, confidential, and nonjudgmental support to help you understand your options and make the decision that feels right for you.

On this page you’ll find information about the support Choice provides and what adoption placement looks like through us. When you decide to work with Choice, we connect you with a birth parent advocate who will guide you through the adoption process. Keep reading to learn more about birth parent advocates, what they can help with, and how to get started in your adoption journey.
What Is a Birth Parent Advocate?
A birth parent advocate is your personal guide throughout the adoption decision-making process. Advocates provide information, answer questions, connect you with resources, and offer support every step of the way. Most importantly, they are not here to tell you what to do.

Advocates are here to provide holistic support for you, your partner, and child through the entirety of the adoption process.

What If I Change My Mind?
That's okay! We are here to make sure you know your rights. You are not making any final decision until you sign paperwork and the adoption is finalized. You have plenty of time to make sure the kind of adoption plan you’re making best fits your needs. When you connect with Choice, you are not making a final decision and we ensure you are in the driver's seat the whole time. This is your body and your baby.

What about after the adoption?
Contact Agreement
As part of your adoption plan, you'll work with your advocate to decide what type and level of communication you'd like to have with the adoptive family after placement. Whether you prefer ongoing visits, letters and photos, occasional updates, or no contact, your advocate will help identify adoptive families who share your preferences and draft up an agreement that fits both your and the adoptive family's needs. Before you leave the hospital, a legally binding post-adoption contact agreement will be created and signed by both you and the adoptive family. This agreement outlines your shared expectations for communication and helps ensure everyone understands the plan moving forward.

Post-Placement Support & Mediation
Your support doesn't end after placement. Depending on available funds, you may be eligible to receive financial assistance for up to 6–8 weeks postpartum. After this period, your support will transition from your advocate to our adoption mediation team. Choice Adoptions serves as a neutral liaison between you and the adoptive family during the first year after placement, helping facilitate communication and provide ongoing support as you adjust. This option is available to birth parents until the adoptive child reaches the age of 18 and is legally an adult.
