After reviewing a prospective adoptive parent profile online, you may find that you have additional questions about a specific adoptive family (or two or three) and want to know more. This is where you utilize your advocate to do a bit more investigating on your behalf. They will work with the Adoptive Family Advocate to get all of your questions answered. From reading each family’s profile book, you will have a good understanding of:
Demographic details like their age, racial and cultural background, religion and more
Where they live and what their home and neighborhood is like
What their hobbies, interests and values are
The number of other children they currently have or hope to have and much more
From our experience, once birth parents begin looking at waiting families online, one or two usually stick out. They may share your favorite movie or camping traditions, or maybe they grew up listening to hip hop or watching Disney movies…which seems similar to your childhood. Or maybe… you like them because they will be able to provide a very different experience to your child… whatever the reason you’re attracted to them is usually a sign that you may want to meet them.
